Mom Morris's Reception
September 18, 2004

All those who attended the Grand Reception for Mom Morris in honor of her appointment as our new Supreme Deputy had a wonderful and delightful time in the "Land of Oz"!

Our Master of Ceremonies, Mandy, did a wonderful job as the Good Witch.   The marshal for the evening was Jeanne as Toto.   Mom Morris was given a blue gingham apron to wear as she was "Dorothy" for the evening.   After being escorted in, Mom Morris was seated and ruby slippers were put on her feet.   Then she began her journey through Oz stopping first to see the Scarecrow who was none other than Mom Buschhaus!    Mom Morris then proceeded to the Tin Man, Tina O'Brian, who couldn't seem to keep her funnel on her head!   After that she was escorted to the Lion(s)?   Yes, in this story there were three lions, the Mother Advisors of District 12.    After arriving in the Emerald City (back to her seat) Mom Morris was visited by the Flying Monkeys who where none other than our dear Past Grand Worthy Advisors!  And while in Emerald City Mom Morris received the attentions of the people of Emerald City (District 12 Grand Officers) who "spruced" her up a bit.   The "soldiers" were presented in the west by Toto.  This evening the soldiers consisted of the visiting Grand Deputies, Grand Executive Committee, and Grand Special Committee members.

It was a wonderful reception and filled with lots of emotion and happy memories of Mom Morris's life.  Pictures were on display in the lobby and at the end of our journey to Oz we were treated with a special slide show of moments from Mom Morris's past!   The room was packed to capacity friends of all ages who came to wish Mom Morris well and congratulate her on her appointment.   It was truly a very special night for Ohio Rainbow!
